FAQs

What do I need to start?

For in-person lessons at my studio, you only need to bring yourself and a passion for music making! For in-home lessons, you will need an instrument for piano and vocal lessons. Finally, for online lessons, these vary case by case. Piano students will need their own instrument, but Voice and other Music students are only recommended to have an instrument to supplement their learning.

How old do I need to be to start lessons?

I recommend that piano students start no younger than 6 years old. Students should be able to sit and reach the keys in order to play comfortably. Voice lessons are decided on a case-by-case basis. However, voice students generally should start no earlier than 10 - 12 years old, due to changes in the voice and maintaining health of the instrument.

How can I get the most out of lessons? What makes a good student?

If you’re looking to get the most out of lessons, the best thing a student can do is PRACTICE! Students should take notes during or after their lesson and go over what we worked on throughout the week. A student who is dedicated to improving spends at least 30 minutes each day practicing their instrument with care and focus. In our lesson, I will go over your goals and help you design a plan to reach them. With my professional opinion and a bit of practice, you will see rapid improvement in your musicianship, understanding, and skill at your instrument.

What instruments do you teach?

I provide piano lessons for students seeking to improve musicianship, beginning-intermediate technique, and repertoire advice. I provide voice lessons from the beginner to the advanced singer in various styles. I work with young musicians just beginning on their journey, or with advanced singers looking to improve their vocals for their career, performance or pleasure! Finally, I provide general music lessons for students who are below the recommended starting age or students who are curious about music.

So you sing opera?

Yes! I am a graduate from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with my Bachelors in Music Performance. I have studied opera and music for over 10 years and it is my greatest passion. Currently, I perform with the UNLV Opera, University Church, and Harmony Handbells. My dream is to become a professional singer and work around the world singing and teaching opera.
